LECTIO

Psalm 27

The Lord is my light and my salvation
   whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life
   of whom shall I be afraid?

the false self advocates
 security and survival
 affection and esteem
 power and control  

 true security is the Lord

 there go our props, money, stocks,
bonds, property, money, work, health insurance  - oh, well --

 survival
fear or the loss of what we feel we need to survive.


One thing I seek of the Lord,
  this is what I seek
that I may dwell int he house of the Lorrd 
  all the days of my life
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
 and to seek him in his temple

survival

For in the day of trouble
 he will keep me safe in his dwelling,
he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle
 and set me high upon a rock
Then my head will be exalted
 above the enemies who surround me
at this tabernacle I will sacrifice with shouts  of joy
 I will sing and make music to the Lord.

 affection and esteem 

to be held in esteem by co-workers, friends. family.
to seek fame, false attributes.


power and control

to rule with no regard for the thought of others,
to feel in control of situations

to let inner afflictive emotions rise to our consciousness
when our buttons have been pushed
